Alesis Photon X Published on 11/09/11 at I got the Alesis Photon Midi Controller 3 months ago and it has changed my way of making music. First, it's straight out of the box plug and play, no complicated driver hassle, or hours spent with manuals. Second, the look and feel are great and make you want to play. The Photon 25 is the MIDI-only version of the X25, and, while it doesn't feature the natty controller dome of its big brother, it does have a plethora of knobs - 12 assignable rotaries, no less. And if that isn't enough, each has got three active layers so that, by pressing the Layer button, you can step through the layers, giving 36 knobs in. Easy to find and read downloadable manuals and drivers. It's very likely you won't need to call Alesis. When I purchaced this gear I read a lot of posts on forums about getting the Photon X25 to respond with Windows 7 and Vista.
